Opportunities for Action

Each year brings new opportunities to change systems so that more learners from low-income backgrounds can achieve upward mobility. 2023 was no exception. It presented significant opportunities, from Pell Grant reinstatement for incarcerated learners to widespread efforts to better align postsecondary education with workforce needs and to close equity gaps in completion rates. Our flexible but focused funding strategy enabled us to identify and respond quickly to the most urgent opportunities to advance our mission. This year, and every year, we aimed to seize the moment to make meaningful, lasting change.
